Family Delphinida

With 36 species, this dolphin family contains the most widely spread family of the cetacean world.

The delphinids are known as the ‘marine dolphins’ (although there are some exceptions to the rule, which is the freshwater populations of Orcaella), have a noticeable break (the Orcaella once again in the exception), dorsal fin mid-way along their back and tapered teeth. The theme of family delphinids are large pod sizes and having a complex social structure.
